Testimonials
“LEAH has taught me how to be a young leader in my community. LEAH has shown me the path of teaching our youth in different ways. I have learned the greatest gift of all is to share what I know with the young kids I see everyday. LEAH has changed my life dramatically--now I wish to pursue a career in teaching because of Leah Deni and what she did in the past.”

- 2006-2007 LEAH Mentor

Emily Hoffman
Education Program Director
Phone: 617.552.1313

Emily Hoffman came to UEI in June of 2007 on her return to the Boston area after living in the Dominican Republic for the past three years as a Peace Corps Volunteer, spearheading a national initiative for Dominican youth to be empowered to become community environmental leaders. She also worked in the different neighborhoods and villages of her municipality to plant over 50 organic kitchen gardens and home based composting. Before her Caribbean experience, she was the Special Projects Coordinator at the New England Aquarium here in Boston. Emily has a M.Ed. in Museum Education from Bank Street School of Education in New York City and a BA in science education from Hampshire College in Amherst. A life-long resident of Boston and Cambridge, Emily is very excited to join the UEI team and looks forward to the limitless possibilities for collaboration and growth in creating an environmentally literate community in Massachusetts.
