Testimonials
"They're going to be seeing things for the first time. By getting the students up and involved and showing them what is out there as a possibility, it really does expand their horizons. Once they start seeing that, they really do get hooked. I think that's the great thing about urban ecology; they really do get hooked."

- Jeff Goodman, Madison Park Technical Vocational High School

Phone: 617.552.1158

Alissa is a graduate of Boston College and Harvard Law School. After clerking for the Superior Court of Massachusetts and working briefly at a private law firm, Alissa found employment at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), where she worked for over ten years at the as both an attorney and program manager. During her tenure at DEP, she was involved in designing and implementing a variety of programs, including the Toxics Use Reduction Program, a first-in-the-nation program designed to get companies to re-think their operations so as to prevent pollution at the source rather then rely on end-of-pipe treatment strategies. She also managed the Environment Results Program, an innovative approach designed to improve environmental compliance, raise environmental awareness, and improve environmental performance within industry sectors through extensive outreach and education while, at the same time, streamlining DEP’s permitting process, and the Massachusetts Printer’s Partnership, a pilot program on which the Environmental Results Program was based. At UEI, Alissa looks forward to combining her environmental expertise with her interest improving people’s lives by creating sustainable urban neighborhoods. In her spare time, Alissa enjoys spending time with her husband and twin daughters, and going to Bruce Springsteen concerts whenever he tours.
